Corey Dillon Pleads Not Guilty to DUI Charges

There are many professional athletes in the Los Angeles area that are formally charged with driving under the influence each year. Former NFL running back Corey Dillon, for example, was recently charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 or higher. Associated Press reports that the football player pleaded not guilty to both charges last week in Malibu Superior Court.

It looks like Corey Dillion will need a skilled Los Angeles DUI defense lawyer to defend him of the DUI charges. As we reported in an earlier blog post, authorities with the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station said that the former NFL star admitted to drinking earlier in the evening when he was pulled over by law enforcers last April. Corey Dillon also reportedly showed signs of intoxication at the time he was pulled over. The football player was also arrested for an unrelated domestic violence charge in May, but prosecutors did not formally file charges due to insufficient evidence.

Corey Dillon is a well known figure among football fans, even since his retirement in 2007. He started playing as a running back for the Cincinnati Bengals in 1997. In 2004, he was traded to the New England Patriots and earned a Super Bowl title in his first season with the team. In 2004, he rushed a career high of 1,635 yards.

The former Bengal and Patriot is due back in the Malibu Courthouse on August 10 for his pretrial hearing.
